WHO WE ARE

Picture
The Click is an experiment in organization, connection, and collaboration among a group of like-minded creative spirits living, making, teaching, studying, and/or existing in the Greater Boston area. We are a group of contemporary dancers operating within a lateral power structure to create and present meaningful and accessible arts experiences. The Click contributes to the cultural vitality of our communities via education, performance, and engagement.

OUR MISSION

The Click’s mission is to contribute to the consistent creation, performance, and growth of contemporary dance in both professional and educational spaces across Massachusetts. Read more here.

OUR PROJECTS

The Click operates within a lateral power structure, meaning that no one member holds more hierarchy than another. For the 2021-22 season, The Click is working on collaborative projects led by members Lonnie Stanton and Kristin Wagner. Learn more about these projects below, and consider supporting our efforts by passing the word, joining us at an event, or donating to support our 2021-22 season.

EDUCATION

Sharing our knowledge and experience with student dancers is central to The Click's mission. The dance world is vast, and options for a future in this industry are much more than we often lead ourselves and our students to believe. The Click strives to show students professional and semi-professional pathways for a future in dance beyond Ballet and Broadway with each educational offering on our menu.

The Click creates and performs primarily on land presently known as Wilmington, Sudbury, Somerville, Cambridge, and Boston, Massachusetts. We acknowledge that these lands are the original home of the Pawtucket, Massachusett, and Nipmuc tribal nations. This land acknowledgement is a formal statement to honor, respect, recognize, and pay homage to these original stewards of these lands and their enduring relationship with the territories on which we dance today. We acknowledge the painful history of genocide, violent removal, and forceful relocation as we honor and respect the many diverse Indiginous Peoples who remain connected to this and all land in our country. We urge our audiences to take the time to educate themselves on the communities that are indigenous to the land they live and work on. We encourage all our partners to continuously learn how they may contribute to protecting and supporting indigenous peoples and practices.
