EDUCATION

Creating brave and curious spaces for people of all ages and backgrounds to explore expressive movement is central to our mission as a collective. We currently offer four weekly drop-in classes for adults, ranging from open level improvisation based classes to advanced contemporary classes and beyond. We also bring our movement practices to schools and studios in the form of yoga, mindful movement, creative movement, and codified technique for youths who have never experienced a dance class and youths who have been dancing their whole lives.

Dance for All Adult Programs

The Click believes dance should be available, accessible, and enjoyable for all. Our Dance For All programming is designed for adult students 18 years or older who are looking for an opportunity to express themselves through creative movement experiences in a supportive, judgement-free space.

EXHALE with The Click
Presented in Collaboration with The Cambridge Foundry
101 Rogers Street, Cambridge, MA
Wednesdays 5:30-6:45pm, October 5 - December 14, 2022

“Exhale with The Click” is a mindful movement series taught by Lonnie Stanton, Kristin Wagner and Angelina Benitez designed for all bodies and movers. Pulling from our collective experiences as somatic practitioners and contemporary dancers, the class will offer rest for the mind, release for the body, and an opportunity to connect the two through a combination of guided improvisations, center technique combinations, and community-built micro-choreographies. We would like to thank The Dance Complex for being the initial supporters of Exhale, and provided us space and opportunity to develop this important programming.

Professional Programs

Learning is never done, even once you "make it" as a professional dancer. That being said, taking class can be intimidating, expensive, and difficult to schedule. That is why The Click is committed to working with industry leaders in our community to create affordable, approachable, and accessible training opportunities for professional and semi-professional contemporary dancers living in and visiting Boston. Check out what we are currently offering below! If you have ideas for ongoing classes, workshops, or intensives and need support with marketing, launching, or facilitating, contact us to see how we might be able to support your endeavors.

Youth Programs

Sharing our knowledge and experience with student dancers is central to The Click's mission. The dance world is vast, and options for a future in this industry are much more than we often lead ourselves and our students to believe. The Click strives to show students professional and semi-professional pathways for a future in dance beyond Ballet and Broadway.

We also support the inclusion of movement and expression in all students' day to day lives, which is why we offer yoga, mindful movement, and creative movement classes designed for a range of students, regardless of dance experience or background. We can design these classes to suit students from pre-K and to middle school.

Check out our pre-designed options below, or reach out about a workshop or intensive designed specifically for your students' needs. Contact us today to discuss how we might contribute to the culture of passion, knowledge, and inspiration your school or studio community cultivates.

THE IMMERSIVE INTENSIVE

The Click's Immersive Intensive is a comprehensive training program that mimics the life of a professional contemporary dancer operating at the local/regional level in the United States. We have designed this intensive with intermediate to advanced student dancers ages 14-19 in mind.

We can tailor this program for your studio calendar needs: programs can be four, five, eight, or ten days long. No matter the duration, the program includes a somatic warm up (often a combination of yoga and barre method conditioning), a contemporary technique class taught in the various styles of our diverse dancers, a mini workshop in guided improvisation, and either a composition class in which students build their own piece or a repertory block where students learn the professional choreography of one or several of The Click's dancers.

Registration and payment can be managed one of two ways: The Click will gladly manage registration and payment directly with families, and pay the studio back a percentage of tuition revenue, OR the studio can handle registration and payments with its families directly and pay The Click a flat rate. Rates vary depending on location and duration. Please contact us for more details.

THE MINI CLINIC

The Click's Mini Clinic is designed in the style of a dance convention, but focuses on concert dance rather than commercial dance. Better yet, it is conveniently hosted in your studio, saving your families, teachers, and administrators time and money on travel!

Mini Clinics offer the same training as the Immersive Intensive, but can be tailored for two age groups and experience levels: those dancers early in their contemporary training (ages 9-12), as well as those who have solid foundational training in contemporary movement (ages 13-19).

Depending on your availability and goals, we can structure a fun and transformative mini clinic for one or two days.

MASTER CLASSES

Interested in experiencing The Click, but not able or ready to commit to a Mini Clinic or Immersive Intensive at this time? We can also arrange for a variety of two-hour contemporary master classes tailored to meet your students' needs and interests. Areas of focus reflect the dynamic variety of our group of collaborators and include: improvisation and improvisational performance, dance on film versus dance for film, contemporary release technique, floor work technique, Limon-inspired contemporary-modern, contemporary jazz, and more.

These classes can be curated for three age levels: beginner (ages 7-10), advanced beginner/intermediate (ages 9-12), and intermediate/advanced (ages 13-19).

For studios within one hour driving distance of Kendall Square Cambridge, we charge $150 per two-hour master class, to be paid by the home studio directly to The Click. For studios outside of this travel window, we may require an additional travel fee.

The Click creates and performs primarily on land presently known as Wilmington, Sudbury, Somerville, Cambridge, and Boston, Massachusetts. We acknowledge that these lands are the original home of the Pawtucket, Massachusett, and Nipmuc tribal nations. This land acknowledgement is a formal statement to honor, respect, recognize, and pay homage to these original stewards of these lands and their enduring relationship with the territories on which we dance today. We acknowledge the painful history of genocide, violent removal, and forceful relocation as we honor and respect the many diverse Indiginous Peoples who remain connected to this and all land in our country. We urge our audiences to take the time to educate themselves on the communities that are indigenous to the land they live and work on. We encourage all our partners to continuously learn how they may contribute to protecting and supporting indigenous peoples and practices.
