EDUCATION

Creating brave and curious spaces for people of all ages and backgrounds to explore expressive movement is central to our mission as a collective. We currently offer three weekly drop-in classes for adults, ranging from open level classes to professional level classes and beyond. We also bring our movement practices to schools and studios in the form of yoga, mindful movement, creative movement, and codified technique for youths who have never experienced a dance class and youths who have been dancing their whole lives.

Dance for All Adult Programs

The Click believes dance should be available, accessible, and enjoyable for all. Our Dance For All programming is designed for adult students 18 years or older who are looking for an opportunity to express themselves through creative movement experiences in a supportive, judgement-free space.

Our Dance for All programming is supported in part by generous funding from the Massachusetts Cultural Council and the Cambridge Community Foundation, and resource support from The Dance Complex and The Foundry. We are proud to participate in the MCC's Card to Culture program, which offers free and discounted class admission to many of our Dance for All programs.

YOGA FOR PEOPLE WHO MOVE

Yoga for People Who Move is an asana flow class with meditative elements that restore active bodies and minds. If you consider yourself a human-in-motion, this class is for you! All bodies and experience levels are welcome; a beginner understanding of yoga is recommended.

COMMUNITY CONTEMPORARY

Community Contemporary is an opportunity for all levels of movers to dive into improvisation, technique, and play while fostering relationships new and old, thus creating and/or expanding their creative community. If you are looking for a supportive environment to animate and excite the tiny inner child dancer within you: this class is it, regardless of your prior experience with dance. This class series is taught by Angelina Benitez.

THE COMMUNITY CONTEMPORARY REPERTORY EXPERIENCE

This extension of The Click's Community Contemporary class offers participants the chance to co-create and perform contemporary works with members of The Click. The first rendition of the program welcomed 13 movers ranging from people who have never formally trained in dance before to folks who have danced all their lives. Under the leadership of Angelina Benitez, the students created and performed a four-minute contemporary dance that opened the March 2024 Moving Through March performance. More repertory experiences are on their way - stay tuned!

Professional Programs

Learning is never done, even once you "make it" as a professional dancer. That being said, taking class can be intimidating, expensive, and difficult to schedule. That is why The Click is committed to working with industry leaders in our community to create affordable, approachable, and accessible training opportunities for professional and semi-professional contemporary dancers living in and visiting Boston. Check out what we are currently offering below! If you have ideas for ongoing classes, workshops, or intensives and need support with marketing, launching, or facilitating, contact us to see how we might be able to support your endeavors.

CLASSES WITH THE CLICK

Collaborative play is at the heart of all that we create and present: this rotating class series is rooted in our philosophy of recognizing the power of individual voice in conjunction with the power of collective presence. Each class has a contemporary-focus, with a twist of individuality that speaks to the Click instructors’ interests and specialties within the field.

Youth Programs

Sharing our knowledge and experience with student dancers is central to The Click's mission. The dance world is vast, and options for a future in this industry are much more than we often lead ourselves and our students to believe. The Click strives to show students professional and semi-professional pathways for a future in dance beyond Ballet and Broadway.

We also support the inclusion of movement and expression in all students' day to day lives, which is why we offer yoga, mindful movement, and creative movement classes designed for a range of students, regardless of dance experience or background. We can design these classes to suit students from pre-K and to middle school.

Contact us today to discuss how we might contribute to the culture of passion, knowledge, and inspiration your school or studio community cultivates.

The Click creates and performs primarily on land presently known as Wilmington, Sudbury, Somerville, Cambridge, and Boston, Massachusetts. We acknowledge that these lands are the original home of the Pawtucket, Massachusett, and Nipmuc tribal nations. This land acknowledgement is a formal statement to honor, respect, recognize, and pay homage to these original stewards of these lands and their enduring relationship with the territories on which we dance today. We acknowledge the painful history of genocide, violent removal, and forceful relocation as we honor and respect the many diverse Indiginous Peoples who remain connected to this and all land in our country. We urge our audiences to take the time to educate themselves on the communities that are indigenous to the land they live and work on. We encourage all our partners to continuously learn how they may contribute to protecting and supporting indigenous peoples and practices.
